Confessions of a Fan-fiction Writer

OK, confession time...
Bless me deviants for I have sinned....
Many of my "Original Sonic Characters", were not actually created for the sonic universe! ...
They were only adapted to it after I became a fan.

Let's take for example Vixen Fox...
She, (and Peter) were originally created for a Novel Trilogy I wanted to write, entitled "Animal Instincts".
It was supposed to follow a fictional love triangle, in a society of anthropomorphic animals, designed to emphasize just how base and animal-like human behavior can already be.
The target audience would've been teens and young adults, so it would contain some moderately mature themes but nothing explicit.
Each book in the trilogy would tell mostly the same story, but from the perspective of a different character, and reveal just a bit more of the plot, until the final cliffhanger (whether any of them would end up happy) was resolved.

For those who are interested here's are some excerpts from the first (or perhaps second) book... though I doubt I'll ever finish it.

Prologue
    It was dark. Vixen didn't have time to wonder how her wonderful romantic evening had gone so horribly wrong. She tried to cry out, but her screams were completely smothered in the throat of her assailant. The clever serpant slowly engulfed her. She had tried to dial for help, but the strong python had wrenched the cell phone from her paw even as he squeezed the air from her lungs.
Vixen gasped for breath, only to be met by the foul stench of stomach acid as she slid deeper into the snake's gullet. She kicked and squirmed for all she was worth, but the python held her legs tightly in his long tail as he slowly swallowed her whole.

The Early Days
    Vixen grew up in a peaceful home, an old stump, in the suburbs of Cymplis City. Her parents lovingly raised her and her brother.  They were never rich, but her father earned enough Calories to keep the family fed and the mortgage paid. There was seldom a new toy in the house, and when there was it had to be shared with her brother. but still they were all quite happy together.
    School was a little more complicated. Cymplis City was a small town, so a wide variety of species all shared the same school. Vixen was often in class with the same animals her dad was teaching her to hunt. But the cycle of day and night helped her keep a balance between those two aspects of her life. She also managed to avoid being picked on by some of the larger predators, which was all a young fox could really ask.
    Vixen didn't like hunting. She realized it was "tradition" but never really enjoyed the id(Chapter 1)
